Cubs Centenary Year

Date: 5th Dec 2016 Author: Scout Websites
2016 marks the centenary of the formation of cubs. 2nd Kimberley (Holy Trinity) cubs have taken part in a range of activities to commemorate this momentous year.

In May, we took part in the County’s centenary camp at Southwell Racecourse. Along with over 1,500 other cubs, 2nd Kimberley (Holy Trinity) took part in a weekend of activities including zorbing, climbing, cave crawling as well as traditional activities including a walk and camp fire. As we were camped near a drainage ditch, the cubs also became acquainted with dozens of tiny frogs.

In September, we visited the Natural History and Science Museums in London and picnicked in Hyde Park. The kids really enjoyed the coach journey (the adult helpers were less certain about the 5am start), and exploring the museums. They particularly enjoyed the earthquake simulator which gave the sensation of actually being in an earthquake.

We will be ending our year of commemoration on Friday 16th December with a promise party. Watch this space for more details.
